SPECIALTY SERVICES
Progressive Lenses Troubleshooting / Customization
Improperly fitted progressive lenses can lead to various vision problems.
At Eye Zone Optical, our expertise enables us to diagnose issues with your current uncomfortable progressive lenses. We can then prescribe a new pair, if needed, with customized progressive lens grinding calculations to ensure optimal comfort and sharp vision.

Double Vision (Strabismus / Diplopia)
Double vision is an increasingly prevalent condition in today's digital age. Our decades of experience with Binocular Vision disorders enables us to effectively address this concern with the use of ground-in prismatic lenses.
Prism lenses work by refracting or bending the light entering the eye, directing it to focus precisely on the same spot on each retina. This alignment of visual input ensures the brain receives the correct signals, enabling the production of a single image and correcting any double vision.

Anisometropia / Aniseikonia
Aniseikonia is defined as a difference in the size and/or shape of the ocular images corresponding to each of the two eyes. The large difference in the amount of refractive error is known as anisometropia.
This disparity in how each eye focuses light results in images of different sizes being projected onto the retinas, leading to uneven visual perception, difficulties with depth perception and eye coordination.
We correct aniseikonia by prescribing Iseikonic lenses, a specially designed lens with adjusted key optical parameters, including base curve, center thickness, and other factors, to equalize the perceived image size between the two eyes.

Tropia / Amblyopia
Tropia, often referred to as "crossed eyes," is a condition where the eyes do not align properly. This misalignment occurs when one eye turns inward (Esotropia), outward (Exotropia), upward (Hypertropia), or downward (Hypotropia), while the other eye looks straight ahead.
Amblyopia, often called "lazy eye," is a vision impairment typically affecting only one eye, but occasionally both. It occurs when the brain and an eye fail to coordinate properly, leading to the brain's inability to interpret signals from that eye.
Consequently, the brain increasingly relies on the stronger eye, causing vision in the weaker eye to deteriorate. It arises when insufficient visual stimulation during early childhood hinders the development of neural connections between the brain and the eye.

Phoria
A phoria is a misalignment of the eyes that only appears when binocular viewing is broken and the two eyes are no longer looking at the same object. The misalignment of the eyes starts to appear when a person is tired, and it is not present all of the time.
Colour Vision Deficiency
Having color vision deficiency (also known as color blindness) means you can’t see certain colors the way most people do, or you may not see color at all.
Dyslexia
Dyslexia is a learning difficulty that primarily affects the skills involved in accurate and fluent word reading and spelling. Characteristic features of dyslexia are difficulties in phonological awareness, verbal memory and verbal processing speeds.
Nystagmus
Nystagmus is a vision condition characterized by involuntary, repetitive, and rhythmic movements of the eyes. These movements can occur horizontally (side-to-side), vertically (up and down), or in a circular pattern.
Convergence Insufficiency
Convergence insufficiency is a binocular vision disorder characterized by the inability of the eyes to turn inward (converge) sufficiently when focusing on near objects, which as a result causes blurred vision, headaches and eye strain.
CORE SERVICES
Eye Examinations
Comprehensive eye exams conducted by licensed optometrists and opticians, performing refraction for myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia.
Myopia Management / Myopia Control
We offer specialized ophthalmic lenses designed to slow and control the progression of myopia in children, minimizing the risk of serious eye conditions later in life. Our optometrists and opticians will recommend the most suitable solution for your child's individual needs.
Contact Lens Fittings
Expert fittings for a wide range of contact lenses, including soft and rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses. We also conduct eye health examinations to assess for any eye conditions or infections.
Progressive Lens Fittings
From a comprehensive eye examination to patient consultation, our optometrist or trained optician will discuss your lifestyle, visual needs, and any specific preferences for your glasses. This helps determine the best type of progressive lens and frame for your individual needs.
Frame Adjustments & Repairs
Minor repairs and adjustments to existing eyewear to ensure comfort and proper fit.
Optical Lens Edging
Broken frame but lenses in good condition? Bring them in! We'll transfer your existing lenses to a new or existing frame of your choice.
