How do stock lenses differ from Rx lenses?
Stock lenses and prescription (Rx) lenses differ significantly in their production and suitability. Stock lenses are pre-manufactured in large quantities to accommodate common prescriptions, resulting in faster availability and lower costs. However, they lack the customization of Rx lenses, which are surfaced to order.
Rx lenses offer a wider range of options, including various materials, coatings, and features. While they require more time for production and are generally more expensive, they are ideal for complex prescriptions or those requiring specialized features like prismatic lenses or iseikonic designs.
Essentially, stock lenses are comparable to off-the-rack clothing, while Rx lenses are akin to custom-tailored suits. The choice between the two depends on your individual vision requirements and budget.
