Founded in 1980 in Fukui City, Japan, Asahi-Lite Optical Co., Ltd. is a pioneer in the manufacturing of high-refractive index plastic lenses. Asahi-Lite was the first company to produce lenses with 1.60, 1.67 and 1.74 refractive indices, a significant breakthrough in lens technology.

Why UV3G?

Recent studies suggest that High Energy Visible (HEV) light is also harmful to your eyes, in addition to Ultra Violet (UV) light. The damage caused by these lights accumulates over the years and can lead to eye diseases. To avoid this, it is important to protect your eyes from a young age. UV3G lenses block 100% of UV light and add protection against HEV light.

What's HEV?

You may notice that your eyes feel sore and tired after a long day of work on your computer or cell phone. This is because of the blue light emitted by digital devices, also known as High Energy Visible (HEV) light. Not only sunlight, but also the light emitted from digital devices include HEV light.

UV and LED lights are ubiquitous in our daily lives. They are present in sunlight, car headlights, PC monitors, smartphones, tablets, and more. Recent studies have shown that shorter wavelength light ranging from 400-420nm can also damage the retina, which is the most vulnerable tissue of the eye.
